New Signings in Premier League are always a joy to watch. They bring in new techniques, ideas and playing the football game.
The First Match week gets over and its time to look which new signings shined well in the premier league weekend. Many surprised the fans with blistering Performance and gave hope.
To know whether signing is successful or not, we ought to see their performance. Hence, its Performance/cost. Not only that there were many other ways such as the
Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes – Arsenal
The Brazilian duo started for Arsenal against Fulham as they helped the Gunners secure a 3-0 win. Willian was instrumental as he provided all the 3 assists and oozed class throughout.
Gabriel started in the heart of the defence and ensured that his team kept a clean sheet. Along with his defensive abilities, Gabriel showcased his attacking threat as he got on the scoresheet as well.
Tyrick Mitchell – Crystal Palace
The Eagles managed to grab all 3 points on the opening and put in a formidable defensive performance of which Mitchell was a part of. The newly signed left-back helped his team keep a clean sheet and had the most number of tackles on the pitch.
Mitchell had 6 tackles ( 4 more than any other Crystal Palace player and 2 more than other Southampton player ) and won 7 ground duels out of 9 attempted.
Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick – Newcastle United
Both the debutants found the back of the net as Newcastle United grabbed an opening day win in the Premier League for the first time since 2012. Jeff Hendrick was named the Man of the Match, as he registered an assist as well along with his debut goal.
The Toons looked electric in the attack, props to the Wilson and Hendrick’s prowess. Wilson attempted a total of 4 shots while Hendrick had a 100% dribble completion rate.
Timothy Castagne – Leicester City
The Belgian full-back was the first player for Leicester City to score on his debut since Nathan Dyer in 2015. Castagne had a perfect score intake on and tackles attempted and won 5 aerial duels.
His attacking threat saw him score a header from a corner as Leicester opened the scoring at the Hawthorns. Castagne has the ability to form a threatening full-back partnership with Ricardo Pereira.
James Rodriguez – Everton
The golden boy from Colombia and a favourite of Carlo Ancelotti, James Rodriguez turned all heads in his debut for Everton. He created the most number of chances (5) in a Premier League debut match since Alexis Sanchez in 2014.
Rodriguez formed a formidable attacking trident with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the Toffees downed Spurs 1-0. The Colombian had the most number of interceptions (4) and second-highest attempts (3) amongst all players.
Timo Werner – Chelsea
Werner’s nature to drift out wide and make runs on the flanks caused all sorts of troubles to Brighton. The German international won a penalty in the 23rd minute after he was fouled by Mathew Ryan.
He attempted a total of 5 shots and played the full 90 minutes working tirelessly off the ball. Werner showed glimpses of his true potential in his debut and he would only reach there with adequate time.
One thing to keep in mind is that we cannot scrutinize all the debutants based on their first-ever match in the Premier League. They require time to settle and meet the demands of the top tier.
